Flowering season 2014
info: in the central part of the forest, (in the ‘Achtdreven’) trees have been felled this year (wood extraction). Trunks and crowns are lying in various places in that part of the forest and there are piles of firewood along the trails. From 1 March to 30 June however, the wood extraction stops (“schoon” time) and the loggers are not allowed to continue their work. “Schoon” time comes from the German “Schonen” meaning ‘save’, ‘protect’. The “schoon” period helps to protect the vegetation (spring flowers), to ‘ save’ and not to disturb the nesting birds.
The fall colors stay beautiful and have mellowed to shades of brown. In the meadow at P1 (Hogebermweg) are some beautiful cattle. The meadow is part of the woods, but the cattle are of a farmer.
We have a beautiful brown carpet of withered leaves in the forest. Due to colder nights there are fewer mushrooms. They also get more and more buried by the falling leaves.
The autumn colors in the forest are now at their best.
The beeches now have beautiful autumn colors. Great time for a walk in the forest.
The hot humid weather is ideal to get mushrooms. Autumn has clearly begun in the forest.
The beautiful flowering period for the bluebells is over.
